Banati
Founded in 2010 by Dr. Hanna Aboulghar, Banati is an NGO working with street children in Egypt to provide them with shelter, social and psychological support, and access to education. Its programmes range from street outreach and reception centres to offering temporary and permanent shelters, legal support, healthcare, and advocacy support. Along with the intense mental health support provided by Banati's social workers, they also organise rehabilitative activities as well as vocational and productive workshops to help provide income for the girls in the future. The organisation works closely with the Ministry of Social Solidarity and tries to collaborate with other government bodies to raise awareness and support the formation of legislative laws that protect girls from violence, neglect and abuse. Banati also partners with like-minded partners that support the cause such as Drosos, Plan International and local organisations such as Sawiris Foundation for Social Development.
